Watching Walt Disney’s animated movie of Chicken Little with my grandkids tonight reminded me of how important it is to believe in those you love. A portrayal of a father who didn’t believe his son’s story, being embarrassed of his actions, and unable to see his son’s potential rather than what the father wanted him would be. It was significant that the mother was not in the home. Many powerful messages are interwoven in this wonderful story. Take the time to teach your kids or grandkids about each lesson therein. I took the time to teach mine that Chicken Little was really praying to God and “not just wishing on a star” when he asked for just one chance to prove himself because no star can perform miracles – only God.

I have seen the movie many times in the past, but a message rang loud and clear in my heart tonight. Growing up as a “Chicken Little” would be difficult for anyone. It was for me. Not having your parents’ support can serve to redirect a child’s path. I’m thankful every day for God’s intervention in my life. I’m especially grateful to Him for my husband.

My husband is the one who has always believed in me. He has been my cheerleader throughout our marriage. Since I have begun my “family” ministry, he has been beside me, encouraging me, praying for me every step of the way. Now, embracing a daily radio program, it’s a marvelous opportunity, but one that will drastically alter our lives. Yet he is behind my efforts 150 percent.

Believe in your spouse. Believe in your children, too. It’s an essential ingredient in the success of anything they endeavor to do. I have been on the receiving end of both, and I’ll take my husband’s way of loving anytime.
