Let It Go

There’s something you need to let go of in your life. It’s been …

There’s something you need to let go of in your life. It’s been dragging you down forever. You put it out of your mind, and before you know it, it crops back up again.

Whether a matter with your spouse, your children, extended family, co-workers, social and/or church friends, it happens – you become their prisoner.  A prisoner to circumstances, often, though not always, beyond our control.  Unforgiving spirits, unrelenting selfish motives, and hearts not in tune with God’s make life long, difficult and sad for a lot of folks.

Why?  Why can’t we let go of things? Why do we want them? We’re such territorial creatures. What’s mine is mine!  So, let me have it!  “I want them, God.  I’m not giving them toYou.  These are my problems, and by crackie, I’m keeping them!”  Oh, goodness, our stubborn wills!

Anything is mendable if “you” are bendable.  Just remember that.  That’s a workable formula.  Don’t ever be a dormat for anyone; God doesn’t expect us to do that.  But, kindness, gentleness, unconditional love – living it as Christ did – is a sure way to soften and tenderize others’ hearts that are bitter about their own issues.

Be the teacher. Lead like Christ. But first, you have to let it go!
