What If This Christmas

What if this Christmas you could do the things …

What if this Christmas you could do the things you have wanted to do every year but haven’t gotten around to it? We get caught up in the hustle-and-bustle drama of Christmas – picking out just the right gift for him/her, making sure the kids’ list is covered, and ensuring the company parties and neighborhood and church socials have all been covered. After all, there’s only so much one can get accomplished in any given Christmas season.

After the dust has settled and we reflect on what was left unfinished, there’s always an item or two we wish we could have covered. Here are a few of the items on my after-Christmas sigh list:

  • Visiting every family member I haven’t had a one-on-one chat with for at least six months
  • Sitting on the porch swing with a hot cup of cocoa and my honey at midnight, reminiscing about our past year as husband and wife
  • Taking a loaf of homemade breads to every neighbor in our subdivision
  • Sending Christmas cards to friends we’ve not spoken with in the last five years
  • Cooking a hefty Christmas meal and showing up on someone’s unsuspecting doorstep and sharing conversation and our love for Christ
  • “Kidnapping” our grandkids and visiting the year’s hot-spot festival of Christmas lights
  • Spending Christmas in Bethlehem

What about you? Is there a litany of wish-I-hads in your life post-Christmas? Share those here. I feel better. Bet you will, too!
